Some local high school football stars were able to get back out on the field today. The Appalachia Prep Combine was held this afternoon at Hunnicutt Stadium on the campus of Princeton High School.
It was an event created to showcase some of the region’s top upcoming high school football talents.
Nearly 200 players from West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio participated in various agility and skill drills. Coaches and recruiters from sever area colleges were in attendance.
Combine founder and former Bluefield Beaver and West Virginia State Yellow Jacket, Jerome Powell, and others were excited about displaying some of the region’s hidden gems.
"I mean, this is beautiful. I wish I had something like this when I was playing. It gives our kids the opportunity to get to play against some elite guys from different states," Powell said.
