ABINGDON, VA– Today the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy made their fifth stop around the Commonwealth to talk wit locals and business owners about the 2018 Energy Plan.
Those who attended the meeting gave their opinions on the direction the state should take in regards to energy. Many in the room represented the coal industry. They think it’s best for the Commonwealth to continue using coal, not only for energy but for jobs.
Harry Childress, President of Virginia Coal and Energy Alliance says, "We think we have the best coal in the world…and we think we want it to be used. We want it to be used for the benefit of humanity."
