BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) Hundreds of new WVU Tech students participated in the university’s annual day of service on Tuesday.
Through ‘Golden Bears Give Back,’ the students completed service projects at more than 20 non-profit sites across the area, ranging from the Raleigh County Community Action (RCCA) to the Beckley Dream Center.
According to organizer Candice Stadler, the goal is to complete more than 1,500 service hours in a single day.
"Service is one of our five core values at WVU Tech. Starting students off with that creates good citizens not only at WVU Tech but in the Beckley community. We hope they take these values with them where ever life takes them."
The Golden Bears also participated in service projects for Operation Underdog, One Voice, and the City of Beckley.
Classes begin for the new students on Wednesday, August 15th.
