New Wyo. County business offers alternative treatments to everyday ailments

OCEANA, W.Va. (WVVA) A new business in Wyoming County is working to give customers alternative treatments for ailments of everyday life.

‘Alternative Healing’ hosted their grand opening with leaders Monday at the store’s location across from Summit Bank in Oceana.

The store owned by Pharmacist Devonna West offers everything from massage therapy to essential oils and CBD oils.

“Alternative Healing is a business entity that provides more holistic treatments. We’re trying to get away from pharmaceuticals to help aid people,” explained West.

The store is one of few in the region offering a pure form of CBD oil, a natural anti-inflammatory derived from hemp. It is the same chemical that’s made national headlines for helping ailments that no traditional medicine could touch.

“CBD is actually the medicinal part of a hemp and medical marijuana plant. However, they’re sister plans and the hemp plant does not yield a high quality of THC. That’s why we’re able to legally market it.”

West said all customers will meet with a trained expert to make sure their treatment option is the right fit.

“We’ve been involved in CBD therapy with several patients. We have personal testimonies where people’s seizures have decreased. We have autistic kids who for the first time can listen to their parents. And we have people with chronic pain who can get up and be mobile and life a normal life.”

With customers coming all the way from Beckley, West said she may open a similar store in Beckley. ‘Alternative Healing’ in Oceana will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
