On Saturday afternoon, Bluefield State College inducted it’s 2018 class in it’s sports Hall of Fame.
The newest class is composed of former women’s basketball stars Lisa Smith and Melissa Doane. Smith is a two-time WVIAC MVP, and Doane ranks 10th in the school’s history in scoring, rebounds and steals.
Sherman Ross was posthumously honored as well. He played for the school’s basketball and football teams in the early 1960’s and was named an All-American in both sports.
To wrap up the class was Tony Mandeville, who coached the men’s basketball team for a number of years. During his career, he racked up 187 wins and just 31 losses.
The next Hall of Fame class for Bluefield State College will be inducted in 2020.
