Two people were killed and one other was injured in a fatal crash on Interstate 77 in Mercer County.
According to Sgt. C.F. Kane with the West Virginia State Police, the crash happened at 10:41 a.m. Thursday when the driver of a tractor trailer traveling north near the Camp Creek area lost control, crossed the median and collided with a vehicle in the southbound lanes.
Two people inside the vehicle were killed in the wreck. One person was taken to Raleigh General Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
Traffic southbound was backed up for hours. As of 6:45 p.m., traffic is educed to one lane.

WVVA has learned that at least two vehicles were involved. One vehicle appears to have been pinned underneath the 18-wheeler. There are reports of multiple injuries. Several people had to be extracted from their vehicles.
It happened around 10:45 a.m. near mile marker 20. One of two southbound lanes are closed. A crash reconstruction team is on scene.
