Plea agreement, State of West Virginia v. William Shane Vaughn

The State of West Virginia has made a plea agreement with a former correctional officer.

46-year-old William Shane Vaughn pleaded to distribution of child pornography.

The prosecutor is Adam Wolfe, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Mercer County Prosecuting Office.

Court documents state Vaughn “will tender a plea of guilty, by information, to one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.”

The court documents also state the maximum punishment for the offense carries up to 2 years in prison and a possible fine up $2,000.

Vaughn is believed to have sent a digital picture using Facebook messenger on July, 7, 2018, which showed an adult male with a juvenile female.

William Shane Vaughn, 46, of Rock, WV is charged with distribution of child pornography. He was arrested and transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and is now out on bond.

Sergeant Steven A. Sommers says Vaughn sent a digital picture using Facebook Messenger on July, 7, 2018. The picture showed an adult male with a juvenile female. Facebook, Inc reported incident to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Vaughn is scheduled for hearing on October 17th in front of Magistrate Frank Holroyd.
