It was a busy day from Beckley in the girls bracket, as three semifinals were played on Thursday.
Wyoming East’s Emily Saunders picked up her 500th career block before a single point was scored against George Washington. The Lady Warriors ran away with it late, 54-36.
Woodrow Wilson took their home court right afterwards. They welcomed Morgantown to the Convention Center. The Lady Flying Eagles struggled to score in the second half, but they held on, 45-37. Woodrow Wilson and Wyoming East will meet on Saturday night.
The night finished with Summers County and Martinsburg. It was a low-scoring affair, despite Gavin Pivont’s 20 points for the Lady Bobcats. Martinsburg squeaks one out, 43-39.
Earlier in the day, Oak Hill bounced back from Wednesday night’s loss to defeat James Monroe 82-45 in a Class AA boys consolation game.
