The Bluefield Area Transit office is polishing the final details for a new bus route in McDowell County.
Beginning on April 3rd, Anawalt, Leckie, Jenkin Jones and Pageton residents will have access to public transportation to and from Bluefield via the Bluefield Area Transit.
Assistant Manager, John Reeves says the fare depends on the destination, but it will never exceed a dollar.
The Anawalt service is the first new route for Bluefield Area Transit in years.
Reeves says when Anawalt Mayor, Dorothy Wilson reached out to the transit office, they were happy to help.
“I feel really good about it. It makes me feel proud to work for the Bluefield Area Transit knowing that we are helping these people out. We’re giving them an option, we’re providing a solution to their transportation needs,” said Reeves.
The bus will run the Anawalt/Jenkin Jones route on Wednesdays and Fridays. Bluefield Area Transit will have a detailed list of stops and timelines on their website once details are finalized.
