Warmer and dry Thursday, rain returns Friday

(WVVA) Dry weather will continue overnight as high pressure maintains control across our region. Clouds will increase tonight but no precipitation is expected. We will have a mix of sun and clouds on Thursday. A weak disturbance will drop in from the northwest and may cause a few light showers north of I-64 in the afternoon and evening with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will surge northeast toward our area Thursday night as a cold front approaches from the west. Rain will start to overspread the area late Thursday night and Friday. The heaviest rain will move out of the area for Saturday, but a few afternoon showers are possible with highs in the lower 70s. More scattered showers are possible Sunday with highs in the 70s, but we’ll see a better chance of rain Monday and Tuesday.
