Dry for now, rain returns by Friday

(WVVA) High pressure will build into the area, causing skies to become mostly clear Tuesday night. Low temperatures will fall into the lower 40s by Wednesday morning. Mostly sunny skies are expected Wednesday with highs in the middle to upper 60s for most areas, with 70s across the lowest elevations.

A strong area of low pressure will move across the plains states Thursday and toward the Great Lakes Friday. Thursday will be dry for us with increasing clouds late in the day with highs in the lower 70s. A cold front will cross the area Friday, bringing us rain showers and thunderstorms. It will also become windy Thursday night through Friday. Showers will come to an end Friday night and Saturday will be mostly dry, with just a small chance of a shower. Rain chances will increase again Sunday and Monday.
