(WVVA) Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered around the area this evening. Not everyone will see rain, with the overall coverage of showers diminishing overnight. A few of the thunderstorms could be strong with gusty winds, manly north of I-64. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun possible. A few isolated showers are also possible with highs in the lower 70s.
Sunday is looking active with a threat of severe thunderstorms as an area of low pressure passes by to our north and a cold front moves through our area. The primary threat will be damaging winds and large hail with a low tornado risk (but not zero). Stay tuned this weekend for updates on this potential severe weather outbreak.
Cooler weather and much quieter weather is expected early next week with a few lingering showers possible Monday, followed by drier weather Tuesday and Wednesday.
