BLUEFIELD, VA (WVVA) A police officer shot during the line of duty is receiving a special present from an agency located in another state.
The Princeton Rescue Squad presented a check to the Bluefield Virginia Police Department.
The check is going to the Bluefield officer who was shot, while on the job, in February.
The rescue squad raised the funds by selling T-shirts, designed by Princeton Rescue Squad EMT Ashley Peyton. Although they’re located in West Virginia, support for men and women wearing the badge crosses all state lines.
“We’re all brothers and sisters out here,” said Mike Crowder, Operations Administrator for the Princeton Rescue Squad. “Whether it’s police, EMS, or fire, we all take care of each other.”
“They would do the same for us and that melts my heart,” said Peyton.
“On behalf of the officer and the department, we appreciate this more than we can express,” said Bluefield Police Chief Shane Gunter.
