Mark twain welcomed visitors at Wildwood Museum Sunday, as part of the West Virginia Humanities Council History Alive Program. Twain was portrayed by Doug Riley of Tunnelton, WV.
The famous author is known for his novels including: ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ and its sequel, ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Organizers of the outdoor family event hope Twain’s visit sparks interest for more tourists to visit Raleigh County.
“We’ve done these for several years now and we’ve really get a good attendance. We know that Mark Twain was so beloved. We just thought it would be something that people interested in history would be interested in,” Leslie Baker, Director of Beckley Parks and Recreation said.
If you missed out on Sunday’s performance another History Alive Program is scheduled for next month on July 28th.
