Rays and Blue Jays suffer defeat in hot summer sun

With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, the Princeton Rays hosted the the Greeneville Reds for the first contest in their three-game series.

The Reds proved to handle the immense heat better than the Rays, as they were able to capture the 9-2 victory.

Across Mercer County, the Bluefield Blue Jays welcomed the Elizabethton Twins to kick off their three-game series.

The Twins jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, but Bluefield would fight back, closing the gap to three by the eighth inning. However, the Twins held on to the narrow lead to win the game 10-7.
