Pecos, TX – The United States Marshals Service, Northern District of West Virginia, announces the recovery of Gracelynn June Scritchfield in Pecos, TX at approximately 2:30 pm EST today.
During the recovery, Arlie Edward Hetrick was apprehended on federal and state warrants by Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force based upon a lead which was communicated by US Marshal Investigators in Clarksburg, WV.
An Amber Alert was issued for Scritchfield on July 22, 2019 by West Virginia State Police. The WVSP reached out to U.S. Marshals for assistance following the abduction.
“Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Clarksburg office have worked diligently alongside the West Virginia State Police to locate this at risk child and bring the perpetrator to justice. We are pleased to announce the child appears to be in good health and has been turned over to child protective services,” said Alex P. Neville Sr., Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for Northern West Virginia.
Hetrick will be jailed in Reeds County, TX on a warrant from West Virginia pending presentation to a local judicial officer.
Williams, Ariz. – The man linked to a recent Amber Alert in West Virginia for a missing 4-year-old was reportedly spotted in Williams, Arizona early Tuesday morning, according to the Department of Public Safety.
DPS issued an Amber Alert on July 23 after 4-year-old Gracelynn Scritchfield was reported missing from Fairmont, WV on July 6. After investigating, police were able to identify her biological father, 26-year-old Arlie Edward Hetrick III as the primary suspect and warned the 4-year-old was in extreme danger.
DPS states Hetrick interacted with a citizen in Williams, Ariz at a gas station in the early morning hours on Tuesday morning.
Police report that Hetrick is possibly driving a gold 2001 Subaru Forester with WV license plate 1TH163.
Gracelynn is described as a Caucasian female with brown-blonde hair, three feet tall and weighing 35 pounds.
Hetrick , meanwhile, is said to be five-feet-nine-inches tall, brown hair, blue eyes and weighing 140 pounds.

WV State Police say the child was last seen in Fairmont, West Virginia and is believed to be in extreme danger. Authorities say the child was likely abducted by her biological father, Arlie Edward Hetrick III, 26.
Hetrick has brown hair, blue eyes, is 5’9″ and weighs about 140 lbs. If you have any information, call your local authorities or 911.
