(WVVA) (AP) Blackhawk Mining says it’s closing three mines and two preparation plants in West Virginia amid weak global coal markets, this is according to the Associated Press.
The Kentucky-based coal company on Tuesday announced the idling of its facilities in Logan and Mingo counties.
The company’s decision will impact 342 employees. Blackhawk says workers are encouraged to apply for open jobs elsewhere within the company.
Back in July, Blackhawk filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, saying restructuring will allow it to get rid of over 60% of its debt.
