BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) — One young lady has already begun making plans for her academic and softball future.
Graham’s Jocilyn Thompson signed on to become a member of the Bluefield College softball team.
Thompson struck out 167 batters as a junior, while batting .526 at the plate. She helped the G-Girls earn the most wins in a single-season, while also leading them to their first winning season in more than a decade.
Thompson has helped put the program back on the map, but took time on Tuesday to thank all of her coaches the set her on a path to success.
“Really, they were the ones that pushed me,” she said. “They really helped me to get where I am today. I probably wouldn’t be where I am today — I wouldn’t be sitting here today if it weren’t for any of them.”
Thompson is excited to focus on her senior season coming up this spring. She hopes to begin studying pre-physical therapy next fall.
