Lady Rams drop season opener to WVU Tech

BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) — College basketball returned to the Two Virginias in the Dome Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Bluefield College women’s basketball opened up the 2019-20 campaign against the Lady Golden Bears of WVU Tech.

The visitors wasted no time jumping out in front, outscoring the Lady Rams 20-11 in the first quarter. The lead expanded to 40-19 by halftime. Bluefield College fought until the bitter end, but fell 78-45.

Brittney Justice led all scorers with 16 points on the evening, as WVU Tech shot 73 percent from behind the arc. Cierra Cook chipped in 12 points for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Golden Bears will next play Glenville State in a scrimmage on Saturday. Bluefield College will face Shawnee State in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament on Friday night.
