Princeton pastor named Lee University Alumnus of the Year

PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) — A Princeton pastor has received a prestigious award.

Dr. Ray Hurt, the lead pastor at Lifeline Church, was named Lee University’s 2019 Alumnus of the Year.

The award is the highest honor given by the University to alumni, and according to the school, it is given to a graduate who is making an advancement in their career — while also embracing the values the University embodies.

Hurt won the title unanimously, and he says it’s an honor.

“For anyone, whatever profession you might be in or whatever work you might do, to be recognized by the people who were a part of your training — to be recognized by them for having excelled is an honor and something you’re thankful for,” he said.

And while he’s a Kentucky native, Hurt says he’s blessed to be a part of our community.

“I’m thankful that God sent me to Princeton, West Virginia. I did not recognize that as a blessing when I first came – in fact I thought just the opposite. But I was trying to be obedient, and it turned out to be probably the best thing that ever happened in terms of me doing ministry for the Lord.”

Congratulations, Dr. Hurt!
