Driver arrested for DUI in Arlington County

Virginia State Police responded to a crash at 12:29 a.m. Thursday, December 5 in the westbound lanes of I-66 at Street in Arlington County.

A GMC Yukon traveling west drove into the active Work Zone and hit six highway construction workers. The vehicle then crashed into a light pole.

There were three persons in the vehicle. Two of the occupants fled the scene on foot. State police and Arlington Police apprehended the two near the scene.

Arlington County Fire transported eight individuals - to include the highway workers and occupants from the GMC - from the scene to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from serious to minor. None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening. 

The driver of the Yukon was arrested for DUI and the crash remains under investigation at this time.
