(Greenbrier County, W.Va.) WVVA - Speaking on a radio show called Talkline, Greenbrier County Prosecutor Pat Via said, "At this point we are awaiting lab results from several pieces of evidence, most specifically evidence to do with ballistics and the gun or guns involved. So we are not prepared at this point to identify publicly the identity of the shooter or shooters." Via said investigators expect to get the results "very soon", and that they will "have more answers in days to come."
The prosecutor also reiterated the role a dispute over a hunting lease played in the altercation.
At around 4:30 p.m. November 29, West Virginia State Police, Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, and Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting incident near the Greenbrier/Nicholas County line on Coleman Road.
After investigation, it was determined Jeremiah Thomas, 33, and Jennifer Thomas, 34, had gotten into an argument with Randy Barnhart and Terri Storer, 45, over a hunting lease. The Thomas’ were killed at the scene.
The case is being investigated by the Rainelle Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
