The Raleigh County Veterans Museum is holding fundraisers to raise money for renovations of the soon-to-be new home for the non-profit organization.
The kick off fundraiser was held at the Pedder's Market Antiques & Collectibles in Mabscott.
The museum is currently located on Harper Road in Beckley, but will be moving to the current Raleigh County Sheriff's Office location on South Eisenhower Drive.
They will do this after the new sheriff's office opens at Pinecrest Business and Technology Park. The new location will allow the museum to display exhibits that have not been able to be shown due to lack of space in the current location.
"The preservation of all of our military and artifacts we like to educate people about it and we want to protect those artifacts so they don't get lost. Families end up with things in yard sales from Veterans of WWI and WWII and from what's happening in Afghanistan and all of that," Chairman of the Board for the Raleigh County Veteran Museum, Glenn Smith said.
The Raleigh County Veterans Museum will be hosting a community round table meeting at the current location on Monday, December 16th at 6:30 pm. to discuss future plans and to allow those interested in volunteering to receive more information.
