Wytheville woman facing attempted murder charge after shooting at her ex-boyfriend

WYTHE COUNTY, Va (WVVA) - The Wythe County Sheriff's Dept. says a woman is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after she tried to run her ex-boyfriend off the side off the road and then fired her gun at his vehicle.

Authorities say they received a call around 5:10 p.m. on Dec. 26 for shots fired in the 4200 block of East Lee Highway in Wythe County. When they arrived, they spoke with Jestin Ray Christley, 44. He said that his ex-girlfriend, Tammy Michelle Hounshell, 47, of Wytheville, attempted to crash her vehicle into his vehicle as they were traveling on East Lee Highway.

After he ran off the roadway, she pulled into the area where he was located, pulled out a handgun and fired a round through the passenger side of Christley's car. She pointed the handgun into the car window and Christley grabbed it from her. He took the weapon and then waited for law enforcement to arrive.

Hounshell is facing several charges including attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied vehicle.

She was being held without bond and was remanded to the New River Valley Regional Jail.
