Police standoff with Huntington man leads to arrest

(Huntington, W.Va.) WVVA - The execution of a federal firearms violation warrant lead to a standoff on Oakmont Drive in Wayne County on Friday.

According to West Virginia State Police, 44-year-old Anthony Smith attempted to flee when West Virginia State Police officers arrived at his home to serve a warrant for his arrest. Smith retreated into the residence and refused to leave. After an extended standoff, Smith and 31-year-old Amanda Bessing exited the residence.

Smith was arrested on the federal firearms violation and Bessing was arrested on numerous active warrants for delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy.
