(Lewisburg) WVVA - Marchers braved the cold temperatures to show support for Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.

The diverse crowd was nothing new for Lewisburg, a city that elected its first African American mayor last year.

Mayor Beverly White of Lewisburg signed a proclamation that turns Martin Luther King day into Martin Luther King week. Mayor White said, "It kinda overwhelmed me for a minute. I was like, wow I really am the mayor because of all the hard work of all the civil rights leaders over the years, that I’m allowed to do this."
