(WVVA) - A couple of the state's best teams in Class AA and Class A emerged victorious on Tuesday night.

Shady Spring hosted Westside in its first game as top dog in Class AA. In a packed road environment, the Renegades hung tough with the Tigers for much of the first half.

However, for every Westside shot made, Shady had a response. The Tigers prevailed, 76-62. Luke LeRose had a game-high 20 points.

Also in Raleigh County, No. 3 Charleston Catholic paid No. 5 Greater Beckley a visit.

The Irish had a 12-7 lead early in the second quarter, but that's when the Crusaders began clicking on offense.

Five GBC players finished in double figures, helping their team to a 60-49 upset victory. Isaiah Hairston and Kaden Smallwood combined to score 29 of the Crusaders 60 points.

Back in Class AA, PikeView and Independence went back and forth all night long. The Panthers ended up on the right side of a 69-66 decision.

Peyton Meadows netted 19 points for the home team, while Jared Cannady led all scorers with 20.
