Raleigh County Sheriff’s arrest armed robbery suspect

SOPHIA, W.Va. (WVVA) A juvenile is in custody after an armed robbery in Raleigh County on Thursday.

According to detectives with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Dept., it happened at the Go-Mart in Sophia around 7:45 a.m. Deputies said a male subject with black paint on his face robbed the store and fled on foot to the IRS building.

"The suspect was located within minutes near the IRS building by Officer Meadows of Sophia PD and Deputy Milam of the RCSO. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery."

Due to the fact that the suspect is a juvenile, his name cannot be released.

He is expected to have a detention hearing in the next few days.
