Woodrow, Princeton to play for titles at Big Atlantic Classic

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) - The Friday evening session of the Big Atlantic Classic saw a pair of area teams advance to Saturday's championship round.

The Hampshire Trojans entered into the home gym of the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles, who had won seven of their last eight games.

Beckley began the contest on 16-4 run, and held a 41-22 edge at half. The Flying Eagles shot 55.2% from the field in the first 16 minutes of play.

Four Woodrow players finished in double figures, as they went wire-to-wire against Hampshire, 78-48.

The Flying Eagles draw University Saturday night at 9 p.m., as Hampshire will play Greenbrier East at 10:40 a.m.

PikeView battled Princeton to begin the evening slate. The Panthers kept things close, hitting a jumper at the halftime buzzer to cut the deficit to 29-24.

But, 25 points off turnovers for the Tigers helped them cruise to victory in the second half, 55-40.

Princeton's Peyton Brown wracked up 15 points and 10 assists on the night.

The Tigers will face Huntington on Saturday at 4 p.m. PikeView and Capital will do battle in a consolation game at 12:20 p.m.
