Mercer County, W. Va.- A Mercer County Circuit Judge reviewed the case of a man facing a murder charge.

Darrell Wesley Hazelwood is accused of killing Tessa Hill in August. Hazelwood's mental state is at issue.

The defense council is raising questions regarding Hazelwood's psychiatric competency. However, an expert found Hazelwood is indeed competent to stand trial.

"I have asked a court appointed a licensed pharmacist reviewed the prescription records and consulted with the jail psychiatrist and see if there's an adjustment to improve his cognition and make it more easy for him in trial," Prosecuting Attorney, George Sitler said.

The case against Hazelwood is moving forward. His trial has been set to begin May 26th.
