Temperatures are starting out in the upper 20s/lower 30s this morning, with mostly cloudy skies. Some may run into a spotty rain/snow shower on their morning commute, however, precipitation coverage is very low.
The cold front that passed the region yesterday is just to our south. This is allowing for clouds to hold strong this morning. Expect gradual clearing throughout the day, with partly cloudy skies into the afternoon.
Temperatures will push into the low/mid 40s by this afternoon, as northerly winds will keep us on the cooler side. Expect peaks of sun throughout the day, however, areas along and south of highway 460 will see more cloud cover into the afternoon.
Overnight, clouds will build back into our viewing area, ahead of another area of low-pressure. This area of low-pressure will allow for more clouds and the possibility of snow showers into Thursday afternoon.
There are still a lot of question marks with this system as it pushes into our region on Thursday.
Will the drier air that is pushing into our region today erode the moisture from that system? Also, will the colder air be in place during the afternoon hours of the precipitation? These questions will be pivotal on how much snowfall our viewing area sees.
Regardless, we aren't looking at a major snow out of this system. Areas along and south of highway 460 could possibly see up to two inches of snow, as areas north of highway 460 will most likely just see a trace to an inch of snowfall. Either way, this will be a very fast moving system. Snowfall will most likely be in and out by the evening hours, with occasional snow showers possible overnight Thursday.
We dry out by Friday morning, but temperatures plummet into the teens. By Friday afternoon, the sun returns, and temperatures will only reach the mid/upper 30s.
The weekend looks clear for the most part. Mostly sunny Saturday, with temperatures in the upper 40s/lower 50s. Sunday will start sunny, with clouds and possible precipitation building in late. Temperatures will linger around the low/mid 50s Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned!
