One arrested after police chase through Tazewell, Mercer counties

BLUEFIELD VA/WV (WVVA) -- One man has been arrested after leading police on a chase through Tazewell and Mercer counties Saturday.

According to Patrolman F.B. Ingole of the Bluefield, WV Police Department, 29-year-old Johnathan Woodie was wanted on shoplifting allegations in Tazewell County. A Bluefield, VA officer was attempting to pull Woodie over when he fled, crossing state lines.

Bluefield, WV officers responded, following Woodie down Route 52. He was eventually stopped and apprehended in the Brushfork area of Mercer County.

In West Virginia, Woodie faces charges of fleeing with reckless indifference, driving revoked, and possession of a controlled substance schedule IV. He is being held at the Bluefield city jail awaiting arraignment to Southern Regional.
