In the center of the Coronavirus pandemic organizations locally are stepping up.
The Salvation Army in Mercer County is still operating as normal. The Salvation Army is offering non-perishable items, and more for families in need during their normal business hours which is Monday-Friday 9 am until 4 pm.
All you need to bring is your ID, family expenses, and spending expenses.
"We're ready to serve our community. We want to make sure that we can at least get a few days or a week worth of food to those who are stuck at home. We have only one person that is allowed inside of the building at a time and we are regularly sanitizing and cleaning right after each person leaves, Lt. Dennis Smith said.
Any family that stops by will only be allowed to receive food items once every three months.
The Salvation Army in Mercer County will also have a take-out community dinner every Friday for families in need as well. All you need to do is bring an ID for every person that will be receiving a meal. That dinner will operate from 5 until 6:30 pm every Friday.
The organization is also accepting monetary and food donations at this time. If you would like to make a donation you can stop by or send it by mail. All donations will be utilized within this community.
