15 West Virginia Counties issuing food to children amid COVID-19

Fairplains, W.Va. (WVVA) - A team from the West Virginia Department of Education, the West Virginia National Guard, and the West Virginia Department of Agriculture began distributing meals through a combined efforts on Sunday.

The team will distribute more than 12,500 meals this week to 15 counties due to the COVID-19 pandemic . Students in these counties will get five days worth of breakfasts and lunches.

Families needing help securing food for their household should call the United Way’s helpline at 211 for information about food pantries in their counties.
