Fayette County (WVVA) - The same day the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported the first COVID-19 death in Fayette County, the Fayette County Health department is now reporting a second death.
An 85-year-old female is the second COVID-19 death in Fayette County. An 89-year-old male also passed away Saturday.
Dr. Anita Stewart, Health Officer for Fayette County Health Department said, “I extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones during this time of loss. The friends and families are in our thoughts and our prayers.”
Fayette County is currently at 38 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 16 of those recovered and now two reported deaths.
“As of yesterday, we had zero deaths reported due to COVID-19 and today we have two. These deaths should remind us of just how important it is to continue working to protect one another during this pandemic,” said Teri Harlan, administrator for the Fayette County Health Department.
