CAIR Condemns KKK Recruiting in Indiana, Harassment of Asian-American in Wisconsin, joins call for Hate Crime Probe in Iowa

WASHINGTON, D.C., (WVVA) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a series of recent racist incidents in Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa, and said growing bigotry nationwide needs to be challenged by America's leaders.

CAIR condemned the distribution of plastic sandwich bags filled with flyers preaching white supremacy and painted with the letters "KKK" in Tippecanoe County, Ind.

That incident occurred over the weekend and follows a similar a pattern of recruiting materials distributed in Greater Lafayette earlier this year.

"Almost every day, we are witnessing racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, and white supremacist incidents taking place nationwide," said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. "This growing bigotry needs to be acknowledged and challenged by our nation's leaders."

He noted that has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims, immigrants and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.

CAIR recently launched an online information portal offering vital information on the growing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on American Muslims and the entire society.
