Oak Hill, W.Va. (WVVA) - Two men were arrested after a motorcycle traffic stop Sunday afternoon in Fayette County.
According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the area of High Circle Drive in Oak Hill. Deputies found the motorcycle's driver, Derrick D. Smith of Lewisburg, had a .38 caliber handgun in his pocket. Due to a prior felony conviction Smith is prohibited from possessing firearms. Smith was arrested and charged with prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Deputies found the passenger of the motorcycle, Alan Hess Jr. of Oak Hill, was in possession of methamphetamine. Hess was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Both men are awaiting court proceedings.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
