BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA) - The primary for West Virginia is scheduled for Tuesday June 9. One of the names on the ballot is Michael Folk. He's a Republican running for Governor, and he currently resides in Berkeley County.

"Republicans need a real choice, a real Republican running in the state of West Virginia," said Folk. "Of the three major candidates I'm the only one who's ever been elected to office as a Republican."

Many West Virginians have been out of work since the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March. WVVA asked Folk his plan to help West Virginians get back to work and to also help the state's economy grow.

"The first thing you have to do is quit restricting business owners and restricting their property rights under the West Virginia constitution...," said Folk. "...I've been all over West Virginia, and (people) want to make the decision that's best for their businesses, and we want to be able to allow them to do it."

Michael Folk used to represent Dist. 63 in the WV House of Delegates

Folk represented Dist. 63 in the West Virginia House of Delegates. He started his position December 2012 and left office Nov. 2018, according to ballotpedia.org.
