BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA) - WVVA is helping to answer your questions about small business loans, unemployment, business reopening, and more. John O'Neal, Executive Director of the Mercer County Development Authority, is helping answer questions.

On Tues., West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that we are in 'week 6' of his reopening plan for businesses to resume operations. O'Neal explained more on this plan.

"The West Virginia Comeback continues, at a much faster pace now. Nearly every type of outdoor recreational business has been approved for reopening. Restaurants, bars, and malls have opened their doors to indoor customers," said O'Neal. "All businesses are subject to some restrictions, including sanitation and distancing guidelines. It seems as if the Mountain State is finally back in business."

O'Neal also discussed more businesses opening later this week.

"This weekend movie theaters are able to open up to customers again, though viewers should check the listings. Many summer releases have been postponed until a later date," said O'Neal.

"Also, the region's only casino, The Greenbrier Casino Club, is reopening. Many parents and kids will be excited to begin summer youth sports next week. Youth baseball, softball, and soccer leagues are eligible to begin their seasons on Monday," said O'Neal.

"As West Virginia continues opening up for business, and many people are returning back to work, it is important for struggling business owners to note that it is not too late to apply for federal pandemic assistance," said O'Neal.

The deadline to apply for COVID 19 related loan programs is June 30. All of the important information can be found here.
