Three Tazewell County schools recognized by state Board of Education

RICHMOND, Va (WVVA)-- Several schools in Tazewell County received recognition for their work by the Virgnia Board of Education. These awards are for 2018-2019 school year based on performance and practices, however schools received "Accreditation" for the 2019-2020 school year.

Tazewell High School is one of 71 schools in the Commonwealth to receive the 2020 Board of Education Highest Achievement Award. This award recognizes schools that demonstrated high levels of success across all school quality indicators (includes success in narrowing achievement gaps).

375 schools were "Accredited" for 2019-2020 with the Continuous Improvement Award. In Tazewell County, Richlands High School and Cedar Bluff Elementary School received this award. These schools had to meet several criteria including a decrease in chronic absenteeism rate for three years.
