A cold front creeping toward our area from the northwest will keep us unsettled well into tonight. Though the heaviest and widespread has already occurred this morning, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will still be likely for the rest of the afternoon and into tonight. We'll otherwise stay mostly cloudy, muggy, and foggy at times with lows in the 60s.
With the earlier rain and cloud cover, our atmosphere is not as unstable as it was waking up this morning, so our severe threat has been lowered. The excessive rainfall threat and severe threat should overall be lower into Monday- as the heaviest precip. looks to stay just to our west.
With that being said however, isolated FLOODING issues could still become an issue in the coming days, mainly west of I-77 and across southside Virginia. Occasional t-storms with heavier downpours look possible again Tuesday and Wednesday. The front will move into our area tomorrow, but will stall at least through midweek, keeping the daily threat of scattered showers and thunderstorms around up until at least Wednesday or Thursday. Perhaps we will dry out in time for July 4th weekend....make sure to tune in to WVVA NEWS at 6 & 11 PM!
