As of now jury trials have been scheduled after July 14th at the Mercer County Courthouse.
The Supreme Court has resumed jury trials as of Monday. The Supreme Court released guidelines, and COVID-19 protocols for judges and circuit clerks to follow.
The Supreme Court put a emergency order to halt jury trials back on March 22nd. Last Friday, on June 26th the Supreme Court provided guidelines following up on the court's May 6th resumption of operations administrative order. The constitution of West Virginia provides that the courts of the state shall be open but should not endanger anyone's health.
All trial participants will be have to wear a mask, or face covering in the courtroom and related facilities. Social distancing will be strictly enforced. Those with COVID-19 symptoms, or suspected of symptoms will not be permitted to enter the buildings. Potential jurors who recently traveled out of state may have their service delayed by the presiding judge until they have quarantined for 14 days.
