Princeton teen receives $1,000 award during national competition

PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVA) - On Friday, June 26, 2020, Aleksandra Sklioutovskaya-Lopez of Princeton received a talent award at the 63rd Distinguished Young Women National Finals.

The $1,000 cash scholarship was presented to five of the 50 state representatives receiving the highest scores on their individual talent performance.

This year, due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the competition was conducted digitally and showcased in a three-night online broadcast.

Sklioutovskaya-Lopez is a graduate of home school.

In the fall, she will attend West Virginia University with plans to become an environmental laywer, dietition/nutritionist.

She is the daughter of Kristina Sklioutovskaya and Manuel Lopez.

Competition continues with the distribution of additional cash scholarships, including $30,000 to be awarded to the participant selected as the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2020.
