The temperatures outside are rising and that means the inside of your car is a lot higher.
Fifty-four percent of children that were left in a hot car last year were simply due to their parents forgetting them.
Beckley Fire Department Lieutenant Chris Graham says there are many ways to help yourself remember your child while running errands.
"If you have a small child in a car seat, take a stuffed animal and set it in the front seat with you so you see that stuffed animal as a reminder to get your child out of the car too," Graham said.
The temperature in a car can reach triple digits within minutes, Graham said.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has launched a public safety campaign to remind everyone that children dying due to being left in a hot car is preventable.
