The sun has been out in full force for the fourth of July holiday. Temperatures have surged into the 80s, with a few lower 90s showing up this afternoon.
A few stray showers and storms are possible throughout the afternoon and evening, but coverage will be low. Expect any storms to diminish just in time for any firework shows.
The moon will appear darker tonight due to the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. We stay warm and muggy tonight, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the 60s.
Sunday looks to be a repeat of today, with the hot and humid conditions continuing. High temperatures will be in the 80s once again, but we are going to add a new element to the forecast into Sunday. That new element will be a weak cold front pushing into the region. This will provide a better chance of afternoon showers and storms into Sunday afternoon.
Into next week, we will keep this general hot and humid pattern, with afternoon showers and storms possible each day. Check out the forecast on WVVA tonight at 6 and 11 to see if severe weather will be concern over the next few days.
