Second COVID-19 death reported in Greenbrier County

GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va (WVVA) - The Greenbrier County Health Dept. is reporting that an elderly woman has died from COVID-19.

The Dept. says that the woman was 89-years-old, and she was hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications.

The first person to die from COVID-19 in Greenbrier County was an 82-year-old man.

Gov. Jim Justice announced at his daily press briefing June 29 that the man was connected to a Greenbrier County Church, Graystone Baptist, which had dozens of people who tested positive for COVID-19.

"I said right off the get go..we would be really lucky if we got through this situation without losing someone from that church. I hate it. I hate it really badly," said Gov. Justice on June 29. "Wear a mask if you're in church...if you're in a crowd, in a building...wear a mask..."
