OAK HILL, W.Va. (WVVA) - Through two Partnership Grant from the National Coal Heritage Area Authority (NCHAA), the Mountain State Trail Alliance has restored the Harlem Heights Cemetery.

The property was discovered in 2017 when trail developers for Wolf Creek Park in Fayette County discovered a mostly-abandoned cemetery.

Historians, Dr. Billy Joe Peyton and Dr. Michael Workman, of West Virginia State University wrote a history of the cemetery as part of a larger historical investigation of Wolf Creek Park.

A historical exhibit based on research from Dr. Workman and Dr. Peyton was installed at the cemetery.
