MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) -- The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting an additional death at a Princeton nursing home.

Princeton Health Care Center, deemed a 'super hot spot' by state officials, is now listing 4 COVID-19 associated deaths.

However, deaths in Mercer County remain at 3.

Officials with the Mercer County Health Department tell WVVA this is the first they've heard of a 4th death at PHCC. Health officials are reaching out to the DHHR for further clarification.

In a COVID-19 update Thursday, Princeton Health Care Center administrators did not confirm an additional death associated with their facility.

"We are saddened to report that some of our residents have passed due to this deadly virus," the statement reads. "We are keeping our extended family in our prayers and ask that you do the same. We are also saddened to report that some of our employees have become extremely ill. Our hearts are with them all!"
