BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA)- Local churches in Raleigh County are gearing up to host the annual Beckley Day of Hope. This year will be a bit different as the event will be a drive thru distribution.

Beckley Day of Hope will be held this Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. This year the drive thru will distribute free groceries, per car. School bags for students present will also be distributed. Lunch will also be provided for each person inside of each car.

"We've always looked at this event not as a handout, but as a hand-up. We want to help people in this particular time who may be struggling, and need a little extra help to see them through and help them get back on their feet," Pastor John Jordan of Calvary Assembly of God.

Beckley Day of Hope will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. If you want to volunteer you will need to show up at the convention center at 7 a.m. Saturday.
