COVID-19 death toll rises in Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) -- The COVID-19 death toll rises in Mercer County.

In its morning update Wednesday, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed the death of three Mercer County residents - an 85 year old male, an 81 year old female, and a 79 year old female.

It was not immediately confirmed if the additional deaths were also associated with Princeton Health Care Center, a Mercer County nursing home declared a 'super-hot spot' by state officials.

16 Mercer County residents have died due to COVID-19.

"Today is a difficult day in our fight against COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “Our hearts go out to all who are grieving during this time.”
